23andMe is looking for an experienced Sr. Technical Lead, Cloud FinOps to join our Data Technology and Infrastructure team. In this role, you're responsible for developing and implementing strategies for cost optimization and efficiency improvements across cloud spending, software licenses, and other IT financial operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement strategies for cost optimization and efficiency improvements across cloud spending, software licenses, and other IT financial operations
  • Collaborate with IT, Engineering, and business leaders to align financial and operational goals, ensuring cost-effective use of resources
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, providing accurate and timely financial information to executive management
  • Drive the adoption of FinOps best practices, tools, and processes to enable transparent financial management and reporting
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure value for money in IT and cloud services expenditures
  • Conduct regular financial reviews and analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements
  • Lead cross-functional projects to improve financial and operational systems, processes, and technology utilization
  • Serve as a key advisor to the Finance team on cloud operations and strategic planning

What You’ll Bring

  • 8+ years of related experience, demonstrating a deep understanding of cloud economics, IT infrastructure costs, and software licensing models
  • Prior experience in a business process, business analyst, or process improvement role. Examples would include experience working with Accounts Payable on invoicing and billing, or with Finance on future forecasting of cloud expenses
  • Proven track record of leading cost optimization initiatives and achieving significant cost savings
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on developing high-performing teams
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity while juggling multiple priorities and projects at the same time
  • Proficiency in financial software, data analysis tools, and cloud cost management platforms
  • Specific experience with AWS
  • Ability to work from 23andMe's Sunnyvale, CA HQ office three days a week (Tuesday-Thursday)

Strongly Preferred

  • System and Network Operations experience
  • Specific experience with GCP or other public clouds
  • Experience with cloud cost reporting tools such as CloudHealth

Pay Transparency
23andMe takes a market-based approach to pay, and amounts will vary depending on your geographic location. The salary range reflected here is for a candidate based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
