23andMe is seeking an exceptional Technical Program Manager to join our Consumer Program Management Team. You will work primarily with the Growth, Engagement, and Monetization (“GEM”) cross-functional team to facilitate technical scoping and implementation of projects that deliver on our roadmap and OKRs. You will collaborate with Program Managers, Product Managers, Engineers, and Finance partners, to ensure the engineering teams supporting GEM initiatives are clear on priorities, deliverables, dependencies, handoffs, and dates, and actively manage the technical execution of GEM initiatives so we can deliver great products and customer experiences that contribute to the success of our business.

What You’ll Do

Technical Project Management

  • Connect pieces of the puzzle. Be known as a “go-to” subject matter expert on the intersection of technology, application solutions, and process flows
  • Partner with business, engineering, and enterprise system stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into technical deliverables across domains like order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, record-to-report, master data management, system infrastructure and integrations
  • Establish, maintain, and optimize sprint planning and request intake process
  • Facilitate Jira ticket triage and maintain an accurate pulse on blockers, manage scope creep
  • Identify skill sets or expertise needed to meet project requirements across GEM engineering and broader organization, assess level of effort, and facilitate resource planning as needed
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) and support security and SOX compliance audits

Program Management

  • Partner with the GEM Workstream Director of Product Management and Sr. Consumer Program Manager to align on prioritization, goals, and timelines for projects
  • Drive program management of technically complex projects across three engineering teams
  • Escalate issues or blockers to the GEM Director of Product Management and Sr. Consumer Program Manager for visibility and support decision-making and resolution
  • Facilitate meetings and decision-making, drive alignment across business and engineering teams, follow up on action items, and keep stakeholders accountable

Process Improvement

  • Partner very closely with GEM engineering teams to understand, optimize, and evolve processes to receive, triage, and scope engineering work requested by GEM and/or other relevant teams
  • Ensure actions and processes are standardized, well-documented, and comply with all applicable SOPs and regulations


What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of related experience in program or project management
  • Prior experience in hands-on software development or software testing required
  • Prior experience as a business analyst or project manager in Operations, Marketing, or Finance a strong plus
  • Working knowledge of enterprise system technologies/components (i.e. APIs, data formats, security, version control, deployment infrastructure) and curiosity to learn more
  • Proficiency in program/project management tools (e.g. Smartsheet, Jira, Confluence); Fully comfortable collaborating in an online/cloud-based environment (e.g. Google Apps, Slack)
  • Familiarity with e-commerce and SKU management software (e.g., Magento, Paypal Braintree, Netsuite)
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, including written, verbal, and visual media
  • Ability to work independently and with a strong sense of ownership
  • Ability to work 3 days onsite (Tuesday-Thursday) in our Sunnyvale, CA office

Pay Transparency
23andMe takes a market-based approach to pay, and amounts will vary depending on your geographic location. The salary range reflected here is for a candidate based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
