The 23andMe Research team is responsible for creating, and helping people benefit from, the world’s largest genetic and phenotypic research data set. The Research Policy and Ethics group addresses a range of issues connected to our ground-breaking research program, including informed consent, compliance, privacy, data sharing, and data management to meet business objectives.

Who You Are

We are seeking a research policy manager to support the development, execution, and maintenance of research policies that facilitate innovative research while protecting the interests of our customers, research participants, and the business.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and execute research policy initiatives and programs with multiple stakeholders, with a focus on data governance and research data privacy.
  • Draft and edit research policies and related documents.
  • Provide consultation on research policy-related questions to multiple groups within the company.
  • Develop training materials and provide training to multiple groups within the company.

What You’ll Bring

  • PhD in a biomedical field, or Master’s degree with at least three years of relevant experience
  • Experience in biomedical or genomics science policy, data governance, or management of big data.
  • Familiarity with human genetics strongly preferred.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to take a project from inception to completion.
  • Excellent verbal, and written, and presentation communication skills; a love of writing and a knack for finding just the right words to deliver a message.
  • Experience managing, organizing and executing projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a highly collaborative environment.
  • A strong moral compass; empathy for customers, research participants, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work from 23andMe's office in Sunnyvale, CA a minimum of three days per week

Pay Transparency
23andMe takes a market-based approach to pay, and amounts will vary depending on your geographic location. The salary range reflected here is for a candidate based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
