23andMe is looking for a researcher who is passionate about learning why consumers act and feel the way they do and loves partnering with stakeholders to leverage actionable insights to inform strategy. Reporting to the Head of Consumer Insights, the Consumer Insights Manager will design, execute, and analyze quantitative and qualitative research, including survey research, consumer insights, and marketplace activity to bring the voice of the customer to 23andMe. This role primarily supports the Product, Marketing, and Brand teams, focusing on areas such as customer satisfaction, brand awareness tracking, product research that supports new product development, message testing, and customer segmentation.

What You'll Do

  • Work with cross-functional partners including Product, Marketing, Analytics, Communications/PR, and Business Development to identify and fill key knowledge gaps about prospective and current 23andMe customers.
  • Oversee key consumer and market research data projects, from planning to delivery of results. Project goals include defining objectives, collaborating on project execution and evaluation, analyzing data, and delivering actionable insights.
  • Conduct hands-on data analysis using R or SPSS to uncover insights that help inform or drive business decisions.
  • Provide recommendations regarding methodology, execution, and analysis to help with research planning.
  • Display excellent abilities to communicate with your colleagues about the progress of project goals, as well as anticipating and responding to roadblocks.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including developing work orders, budgeting, POs, and overseeing milestones and deliverables.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative market research in a consumer company or market research vendor with consumer clients
  • Experience creating, executing, analyzing and synthesizing findings from market research projects
  • Experience communicating insights and recommendations via presentations to various constituencies from peers to executive level
  • Capacity to multitask and prioritize, to both think about and do market research
  • Strong interest in being part of the team and contributing to the evolution and elevation of the consumer insights practice at 23andMe
  • Excitement to be included in decision-making and thought leadership in the organization
  • Keen ability to understand and appreciate research findings. Should be comfortable conducting data analyses, drawing conclusions from the data, writing reports, and communicating findings to stakeholders who range widely in their familiarity with analytics and research as a part of product development
  • Ability to interact in a fast-paced environment with a high level of professionalism, remaining flexible, proactive, and resourceful
  • Ability to work 3 days per week (Tuesday-Thursday) in our Sunnyvale, CA office
  • Other Requirements
    • Experience with R or SPSS
    • Experience managing trackers, CSAT
    • Experience managing vendor relationships
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Preferred
    • Experience in a regulated industry
    • Experience with UserTesting.com, Alchemer
    • Experience in quantitative UX research
    • Experience with SQL
    • Advanced degree/studies in psychology, statistics, or related field

Pay Transparency
23andMe takes a market-based approach to pay, and amounts will vary depending on your geographic location. The salary range reflected here is for a candidate based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
