About this role:

Astronomer is seeking a Senior Contracts Manager with start-up experience and small team mentality to join our growing legal operations team. In this role, you will help build processes, scale the department, and drive efficiency by working cross-functionally with various business stakeholders and sales teams, to support contract review, negotiation and execution and support sales velocity as it relates to the legal contracting process.

We want a strong business partner who is an independent thinker with strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, the ability to resolve complex issues in an effective and solution-oriented manner, and the ability to manage multiple projects and transactions at the same time.

What you get to do:

  • Structure, review, negotiate, and advise on a variety of commercial agreements including master subscription agreements, data processing agreements, order forms, non-disclosure agreements, and miscellaneous other contracts or terms.

  • Partner closely with Sales Operations and the sales team on customer deals.

  • Assist in building and improving agreement templates and legal contracts processes.

  • Manage risk and ensure business and compliance needs including data privacy and compliance requirements.

  • Work with business stakeholders, sales, product, finance, sales operations, and procurement to develop best-in-class processes to reduce friction and increase quality of contract reviews and negotiations.

  • Manage competing priorities and expectations in a highly dynamic work environment.

  • Handle other special projects as assigned and build relationships across the organization.

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university; JD a plus!

  • 5 - 7 year(s) experience in negotiating complex technology agreements, professional services agreements, data processing agreements, and other related contracts, with a cloud or software company.

  • Broad knowledge of legal principles and procedures as they relate to contracts.

  • Experience in solving multiple and complex challenges through critical thinking and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Adaptable, resilient, and open to embracing feedback.

  • Ambitious and team-oriented self-starter willing to roll up their sleeves.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex legal concepts into simple, actionable recommendations with a practical, business-oriented approach.

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, intellectual curiosity and willingness to grow.

  • Any exposure or use of the following platforms:

    • SpotDraft (or any similar CLM)

    • DocuSign

    • Salesforce

    • Google Workspace

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience working at a startup.

  • General knowledge of data privacy and compliance.

The estimated salary for this role ranges from $140,000 - $170,000, along with an equity component. This range is merely an estimate, and the width of the range reflects willingness to consider candidates with differing prior seniority. Actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
