Summary
We are looking for a Vice President of Legal who can serve as a strategic partner and business advisor to all of fabric and contribute to a growing company that consistently demonstrates its commitment to strong corporate values. We are looking for a self-starting problem-solver who can work collaboratively and autonomously and roll up their sleeves when necessary to get the job done. We need team players who want to shape the direction of the legal team and possess the technical acumen and leadership expertise required to lead fabric's legal and business operations. This position reports directly to the CFO, and oversees the legal team, which currently consists of a corporate counsel and paralegal.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the company's legal function managing a team focused on efficiency and exceptional customer service.
  • Define the strategic direction of the organization in all legal matters ensuring that all practices, policies, business activities, and decisions align with the Company's core values and initiatives.
  • Support product development lifecycle and product readiness by identifying and driving resolution of issues related to privacy, data security, marketing, competition, intellectual property, and other legal and regulatory areas
  • Provide solutions-oriented oversight and leadership for all legal needs of the company including managing and directing general corporate matters, litigation, governance, compliance, transactions, partnerships, and other matters.
  • Collaborate with the business to provide valuable advice and counsel within the context of the enterprise-level objectives.
  • Structure key business initiatives in a manner that helps to achieve business objectives while protecting legal, regulatory, product, and compliance directives.
  • Skillfully manage external counsel and the company's legal budget to ensure effective legal operations.
  • Effectively craft and communicate organizational policies across the organization.
  • Provide counsel, advice, and clear communication on key issues to the Company and Board of Directors regarding governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Draft and manage corporate resolutions, minutes, contracts, and other documentation relating to the Board and committee activities.

What you bring to the table

  • Possess a law degree with strong academic achievements from an accredited law school, in addition to having earned an undergraduate degree from a reputable college or university.
  • Demonstrated success in a leadership role while managing a team and cross-functional stakeholders within a scaled private or public company setting.
  • Experience working closely with executive leadership and Boards of Directors on a broad range of legal and business issues, governance matters, and corporate strategy.
  • Considerable knowledge of, and experience in the software and/or SaaS sector.
  • Solid knowledge of compliance matters and international, state, and federal rules and regulations that affect growing technology companies.
  • Experience with employment law in the United States (internationally is a plus).
  • Demonstrates a strong personal alignment with the Company's values.
  • An outstanding team player who is inherently proactive, driven, collaborative, dedicated, and possesses the ability to develop first-class relationships, both internally and externally.
  • A smart, innovative, strategic thinker, yet pragmatic and operationally savvy, with a strong commitment to building true shareholder value.
  • Excellent judgment and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Flexible and able to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple priorities and projects (internally and externally) in a fast-paced environment.
  • Someone at ease in a changing organization and industry and able to excel by operating with a sense of urgency while remaining flexible, open-minded, and adaptable.
