The Department: Legal

The Legal department at Gemini is making history every day, as we creatively apply the legacy of law to the future of digital assets. On this team, you will tackle complex and unprecedented applications of the current legal system to the revolutionary industry of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. At Gemini, Legal plays a critical role in guiding innovation and driving value for the business, while upholding our core tenets of security, compliance, and trust for our customers. The Role: Paralegal

As a Paralegal at Gemini, you are the ultimate writer and negotiator. We are seeking a highly organized and proactive individual to support the optimization of our legal team. This role is ideal for an individual thinker with a background in legal operations, project management, and process improvement within a high-growth, technology-driven environment. By working closely with Gemini’s Commercial Counsel, Business Development, Finance and Accounting, and Supplier Relations teams, you’ll play a critical role in building our business at the forefront of the future of money.

This role is required to be in person twice a week at our New York City, NY office.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage new tools and systems to aid the Legal team and broader Gemini group in operating with efficacy, including coordination of relevant internal stakeholders and external providers.
  • Monitor and enhance the legal intake and triage process.
  • Oversee and coordinate legal billing systems and processes.
  • Draft, evaluate, and negotiate a wide variety of vendor and supplier agreements with support from senior lawyers; coordinate with outsourced contract review vendor.
  • Provide risk-weighted advice to business principals that succinctly balances commercial upside against corresponding legal, financial, operational, and reputational risk.
  • Manage and update standard templates and negotiation matrices to support Gemini’s commercial contracting needs.
  • Manage projects effectively and collaboratively.
  • Build positive and influential relationships with cross-functional partners, evangelizing the Legal team’s expertise and services across the company.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant commercial contract experience.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of and interest in disruptive technology, financial services, or security; prior experience working in fintech, digital assets or high-growth tech companies a plus.
  • Proven ability to proactively, efficiently, and accurately assess legal business risks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Track record of creative problem-solving, excellent written and oral communication skills, and creation of strong and trusted cross-functional relationships.

Salary Range: The base salary range for this role is between $92,400 - $132,000 in the State of New York, the State of California and the State of Washington. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.

In the United States, we have a flexible hybrid work policy for employees who live within 30 miles of our office headquartered in New York City and our offices in Seattle and Miami. Employees within the New York, Seattle, and Miami metropolitan areas are expected to work from the designated office twice a week, unless there is a job-specific requirement to be in the office every workday. Employees outside of these areas are considered part of our remote-first workforce. We believe our hybrid approach for those near our NYC, Seattle, and Miami offices increases productivity through more in-person collaboration where possible.
