Sr. Software Engineer

Job Summary

At Pantomath, we are building the autopilot for the data-driven enterprise. Today, data teams are buried under operational toil: battling broken pipelines, schema drift, and silent quality failures. Each incident costs hours of manual debugging.

We are building the Data Operations Center (DOC) to automate the entire lifecycle of data reliability. Our platform doesn't just monitor; it remediates. We are turning hours of manual troubleshooting into seconds of autonomous, self-healing recovery across the entire data stack.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our founding engineering team in the Bay Area. This is a true zero-to-one role at the intersection of large-scale data systems, infrastructure, and applied AI.

You'll build critical systems that integrate directly with customer data infrastructure. We're looking for self-directed engineers who execute quickly, own their work from concept to deployment, and bring a questioning mindset to building production-ready autonomous systems.

Your Impact

  • Architect the Autonomous Engine: Design the core infrastructure that enables real-time monitoring and self-healing capabilities across massive, heterogeneous data environments.

  • Engineer the Remediation Layer: Build the brain that translates AI-driven diagnostics into safe, automated infrastructure actions

  • Scale the Platform: Influence our technical roadmap, choose the right tools for the job, and set the standard for engineering excellence as we scale from 1 to 100.

  • Close the Feedback Loop: Partner with early-adopter customers to solve complex, real-world data failures and turn those insights into hardened, automated features.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in backend or infrastructure engineering with a focus on building large scale data systems

  • Proficient in leveraging AI coding assistants and committed to iteratively evolving engineering standards and SDLC workflows to maximize the impact of AI driven development

  • Strong programming skills in one or more of the following languages: Python, Scala, TypeScript, or Java

  • Deep comfort debugging complex failure modes in production systems

  • Strong customer empathy and ownership to build the right solution

  • Experience in cloud-native infrastructure technologies

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

This role is primarily performed in an office or remote work setting and requires the ability to:

  • Sit for extended periods while working on a computer.

  • Occasionally stand, walk, reach, stoop, or bend during the course of work.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively via video conferencing, phone, and email.

  • Occasionally lift and move items varying in weight and size (e.g., office equipment, packages, marketing materials).

  • Occasionally travel, including air and ground transportation and overnight stays, if required.

Equal Opportunity & Accommodations

Pantomath is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are made without regard to legally protected characteristics and are based on qualifications, merit, and business needs. We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals — whether during the application and interview process or throughout employment.
