Description

Position Overview

Regulus is seeking a Senior Board Design / RFSoC Engineer to join our multidisciplinary hardware development team. In this high-impact role, you will lead the design, implementation, and validation of advanced embedded hardware systems integrating Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC and other high-speed SoC architectures. Your work will directly contribute to the next generation of signal processing, communication, and sensing systems developed by Regulus for defense, aerospace, and intelligent edge applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead schematic capture and PCB design for complex digital and mixed-signal boards based on RFSoC, FPGA, and high-speed processor platforms.
  • Architect and integrate multi-gigabit RF and digital interfaces, including JESD204B/C, LVDS, PCIe, DDR4/5, 10/40GbE, and clock distribution networks.
  • Collaborate with system architects and RF engineers to define board-level signal chains, synchronization strategies, and power architectures.
  • Perform signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and thermal analysis to ensure system robustness across mission-critical environments.
  • Manage board bring-up, debug, and verification using oscilloscopes, VNAs, logic analyzers, and high-speed test equipment.
  • Work closely with firmware and FPGA engineers to align hardware-software interfaces and optimize system-level performance.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation including schematics, BOMs, test plans, and manufacturing files.
  • Interface with contract manufacturers to ensure DFM/DFT compliance, production readiness, and cost optimization.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the hardware design team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in complex board-level design, including SoC, FPGA, and mixed-signal systems.
  • Proven expertise with RFSoC or similar high-performance SoC platforms (e.g., Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+, Versal ACAP, Intel Stratix 10).
  • Strong hands-on experience with schematic and PCB tools such as Cadence Allegro, Altium Designer, or Mentor Xpedition.
  • Deep understanding of high-speed digital design (DDR, JESD204B/C, PCIe Gen4/5, Ethernet), analog front-end integration, and power delivery.
  • Proficiency in board bring-up, signal measurement, and debug in lab environments.
  • Familiarity with embedded Linux, bootloaders, and low-level driver interaction.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with wideband RF transceivers, high-speed ADC/DACs, and synchronization architectures.
  • Background in defense, aerospace, or EW/ISR systems involving low-latency signal processing.
  • Familiarity with FPGA design and verification flows (Vivado, HLS, simulation).
  • Experience with thermal, EMC, and mechanical design constraints in ruggedized environments.
  • Proven track record of delivering RFSoC-based hardware from concept to production.
