About The Role
Zeni is on the hunt for an experienced, detail-oriented payroll manager to join our team.
As a payroll manager, you will oversee all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely payments for our Zeni payroll customers as well as for our internal US-based Zeni team. You will collaborate with various departments to gather and validate payroll information, resolve payroll discrepancies, provide exceptional service to our customers and employees in addition to partnering with our sales, marketing and product teams to help grow our payroll business.
The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of payroll regulations, a desire to provide exceptional service to the teams they support, the ability to lead a small team to success and an unwavering commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop systems and processes to ensure a seamless payroll experience for Zeni payroll clients and Zeni’s US-based employees
- Oversee processing of payroll and payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, raises) and system upgrades
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies.
- Manage a team of payroll professionals to successfully service our customer’s payroll needs
- Liaise with auditors and manage payroll tax audits
- Collaborate with Human Resources and accounting teams
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports
- Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions
- Partner with the sales team to speak with customers about our payroll services
- Partner with our marketing team in developing marketing campaigns aimed at growing our payroll business.
Skill Requirements
- 5+ years of experience managing payroll
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, labor laws, taxation and statutory compliance in the US.
- Experience in handling payroll audits, inspections and compliance assessments.
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems, such as ADP, Gusto, Trinet, Paylocity, with experience implementing and managing payroll systems.
- Excellent understanding of financial principles and the ability to reconcile payroll with financial records.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing complex payroll calculation data.
- Good organizational and time management skills to meet strict payroll deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to clearly communicate with customers regarding complex and sensitive payroll issues.
- Ability to speak with potential clients, sharing the value proposition of utilizing Zeni’s payroll services.
Base Salary
Your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below stated range. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic location. Zeni uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Pay is also determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Additionally, Zeni leverages current market data to determine compensation, so posted compensation figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. The salary, other compensation, and benefits information is accurate as of the date of this posting. Zeni reserves the right to modify this information at any time, subject to applicable law.
Salary Range: $135,000 - $155,000

Position Location
This role is available in the following locations: SF Bay Area, CA or Salt Lake City/Lehi, UT. This roll should expect to work a hybrid schedule of 2 days in office.
Travel Requirement
The team participates in offsites in various locations across the US to plan, collaborate, learn and celebrate with each other. All standard travel expenses are covered by Zeni. All candidates must be willing to meet these travel requirements.
