Job Description
A Senior Tax Manager is a seasoned tax professional responsible for overseeing and managing a team of tax specialists. This role requires a deep understanding of complex tax laws and regulations, strong leadership skills, and the ability to provide strategic tax advice to clients or the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance:
- Overseeing the preparation and review of basic to complex tax returns, including corporate, individual, partnership, and trust returns.
- Being the signer for the company entity and client filings as an active CPA or EA.
- Ensuring timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and payments.
- Staying up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations to maintain compliance.
- Partner closely across the company to represent an experienced tax and accounting perspective.
Tax Planning:
- Identifying and implementing tax-saving strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
- Providing strategic tax advice to clients or the organization on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other significant transactions.
- Developing and implementing tax policies and procedures, and project management recommendations.
Tax Audits/Notice Mitigation:
- Preparing and reviewing notices, responses, and documentation.
- Managing tax audits conducted by tax authorities.
- Representing the organization or client before tax authorities.
Team Leadership:
- Building and mentoring a team of tax professionals in the US and India.
- Assigning tasks, reviewing work, and providing performance feedback.
- Developing and implementing training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
Client Relationship Management:
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with your portfolio of customers.
- Understanding client needs and providing proactive tax solutions.
- Responding to client inquiries and resolving tax issues.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Accounting or Taxation (e.g., Masters of Science in Taxation, CPA, EA)
- 8+ years of experience in tax, and experience in a leadership role is a plus
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations including the federal R&D credit
- Impeccable written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex accounting and tax concepts to audiences who may not possess a technical tax background and concisely make analyses and recommendations.
- Interested in collaborating with a cross-functional team where you can apply tax domain expertise to develop new content or technology products.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Start-up experience is highly preferred
- Ability to take ownership and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced ambiguous environment.
- Proficiency in tax software and tools (Lacerte REQUIRED)
- Experience with international tax (FBAR, 5471/5472)
- Experience C-corp (at least 3 years), S-corp, LLC, Partnerships
- Knowledge of industry-specific tax issues and credits
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles
