The Role

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll own the design, development, and evolution of the core data connectivity systems that power our Zeta Marketing Platform. You will collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers and Executives across the organization to develop a roadmap and subsequent projects to build the next generation comprehensive, multichannel marketing solution that unifies and unlocks data across digital touch points, driving return on marketing investment. This includes building scalable integrations between marketing data sources (CRMs, ad networks, analytics tools, and data warehouses) and the platform’s core datastore. You’ll lead a team of engineers in technical aspect to deliver high-performance data pipelines and APIs that enable frictionless ingestion, synchronization, and delivery of large-scale customer and campaign data.

Job Description

As a Lead Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, Architect, implement, and operate Python-based microservices and high-throughput ETL/ reverse ETL pipelines that meet enterprise SLAs, RPO/RTO targets, and data quality standards
  • Embed observability by default through structured logging, metrics, and distributed tracing; define SLOs, error budgets, and incident response runbooks for production services
  • Conduct design and code reviews, performance and cost optimizations, and challenge fellow engineers to raise the bar on engineering excellence and operational maturity
  • Design and evolve reusable connector frameworks for inbound and outbound integrations with Ad tech platforms like Facebook Ads, Google Ads, and other enterprise systems, emphasizing modularity, versioning, and backward compatibility
  • Collaborate with Product, SecOps, and Platform teams to deliver scalable, cost-efficient solutions across Kubernetes, message buses, and workflow orchestrators
  • Evaluate designs of other team members
  • Mentor junior members and provide technical guidance on the team

Desired Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in backend with at least 2 years in technical leadership roles.
  • Strong proficiency with Python, Go, or Java, and familiarity with distributed systems concepts (Kafka, Kinesis, or similar).
  • Deep understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, data modeling, and connector architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data ecosystems — AWS (Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3), GCP, or Azure.
  • Expertise in REST/gRPC API design, OAuth, and webhook-based integrations.
  • Experience on building self-healing high through put data pipelines
  • Experience with at least one of the query engines - Trino, Athena, Spark

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working in one of the Data lake house technologies - Iceberg, Delta Lake
  • Experience with Temporal or other similar technologies

SALARY RANGE

The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $200,000, depending on location and experience.
